Welcome to The Inclusion Department
If a child can’t learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn.”
The Inclusion Department provides assistance for students with additional needs, across all key stages, to enable them to access the curriculum and realise their full potential. Our team comprises a SENCO, an Inclusion Manager (who is also an accredited assessor), a HLTA and eight Teaching Assistants. We have specialist knowledge in the four, “Broad Areas of Need”:
- Communication and interaction;
- Cognition and learning;
- Social, emotional and mental health;
- Sensory and physical.
Additionally, we also support pupils for whom English is not their first language.
All of our many interventions are varied and bespoke and, where necessary, students may also receive additional support from specialist staff. We operate our Assess, Plan, Do, Review process to enable us to deliver this.
The Inclusion Department is situated at the heart of the school in ‘The Base.’ It is our aim to provide a warm, friendly and inclusive environment. The base is used to deliver small group and 1:1 interventions.
We also provide support for students taking examinations which may be in the form of scribes (writers), readers, and transcriptions.
For more information on our work and procedures please refer to the school’s local offer here.
