Accelerated Reader

Reading is a crucial part of developing knowledge and understanding, and we want to encourage pupils to enjoy reading for pleasure at home as much as possible. All pupils in Years 7 and 8 should read for at least 15 minutes each day.

All pupils in Year 7 and Year 8 use Accelerated Reader to complete short quizzes on the books that they read. Accelerated Reader helps to guide pupils towards books that they will be able to enjoy independently according to their reading ability, and pupils can complete quizzes on each book that they read in order to help monitor their reading and check how well they are understanding the books they have chosen.

Accelerated Reader can be accessed at home by clicking on the following link: https://ukhosted26.renlearn.co.uk/1978502/

Pupils set their username and password in their first library lessons, but if you have trouble logging in, check the following:

  • Check that the address bar shows the correct web address as shown above, and that you have followed the link above. If you get to Accelerated Reader using google, it will not take you to the dedicated page for the Polesworth School.
  • Check that the username is entered correctly.
    • Your username will usually consist of: the first letter of your first name and your full last name (e.g. if your name is Jacqueline Wilson, your username will be ‘JWilson’).
  • If you have forgotten your username or password, or have any further questions, please contact Mrs Bartlam
