Physical Education at Key Stage 3

Across the key stage, students will participate in a wide range of different sports and roles. Below is an example of the typical learning journey a student will experience.  Click on the image for more information.

Students will also have the opportunity to participate in a number of different roles. These include:-

Official
Performer
Choreographer

In addition to core PE we also offer a broad range of extracurricular activities that give an excellent opportunity for pupils of all years to take part, learn, enjoy and excel at their chosen sport or sports. Examples include:-

Volleyball

Tennis

PE3

Assessment

Students are assessed at the end of each activity block and assessed against the threshold concepts for each activity. Students can be graded either:-

T = Working towards achieving the threshold concepts.
A = Working at the threshold concepts.
B = Working beyond the threshold concepts.

Threshold Concepts for PE

We have identified the key knowledge and skills which students need to secure to give them a firm foundation on which to build further learning. We refer to these as threshold concepts and it our intention that every student secures these threshold concepts in order to make outstanding progress through the PE curriculum.

We have included below the subject threshold concepts for PE. You can support your son/daughter’s progress by regularly discussing the threshold concepts with them to help reinforce what they have learnt.
