Geography Key Stage 3

Our aim at key stage 3 is to inspire in pupils a curiosity and fascination about the world and its people that will remain with them for the rest of their lives. Students will be equipped with knowledge about diverse places, people, resources and natural and human environments, together with a deep understanding of the Earth’s key physical and human processes.

In Year 7 we look at world around us and focus on the skills that enable our students to become good geographers. The topics we study are:

  • Map skills
  • Kenya and sustainable tourism
  • Rivers and Flooding
  • Brazil and the tropical rainforest
  • Population and migration
  • Weather and climate

As students’ progress into Year 8 their growing knowledge about the world will help to deepen their understanding of the interaction between physical and human processes, and of the formation and use of landscapes and environments. The topics we study are:

  • Plate tectonics, volcanoes and earthquakes
  • Development and globalisation
  • Climate change and resources
  • Coasts
